The LEAD Approach
LEAD prides itself on evolving innovative approaches to tackle challenging global issues. We create unique learning journeys around leadership and sustainability challenges in order to fully engage participants from different sectors and diverse cultural backgrounds. With 17 years’ experience of delivering global development programmes we recognise that people start from different places, with different expectations and have different learning styles. What makes LEAD stand apart is our wealth of experience designing, developing, and implementing high quality, multi-sectoral training and capacity development for diverse international audiences. Our unique approach, reach, and experience have made us renowned in the training field.
LEAD’s approach to training is based on tested adult-learning methodology that is experiential, learner centered, participatory, highly dynamic and also enjoyable. We use a wide range of methodologies, including interactive panel discussions, place-based case studies, site visits, peer-to-peer learning, role play and individual and team projects.
Our training includes:
- balancing key dimensions including knowledge inputs, skills development, raising self-awareness and learning by doing;
- creating a dynamic learning environment where personal and professional experiences can be shared and the group acts as a resource to generate answers to emerging questions;
- strengthening individual communication skills by focusing on active listening and effective questioning;
- challenging participants to work collaboratively to explore and uncover innovative solutions to complex scenarios.
We have brought this internationally tested approach to the Climate Leaders Initiative after making the necessary adaptations to suit the target audience. Each training is tailored specifically with regards to the needs of the project and the participants to ensure that the project goals are met. Along with our unique Leadership Modules, we have also developed comprehensive training material on climate change, which provides the participants with the basic information on climate change, the international scenario and a look at what is happening in India with regards to this issue. In addition, we also provide workshops on case study writing and methodology to ensure that the participants produce high quality case studies.
To ensure that the project runs smoothly, we have Key Implementing Partners who implement the project in the different project regions. These Partners are further supported by Regional Advisory Councils. The Key Implementing Partners and Advisory Councils are in constant contact with the participants and are responsible for their direct mentoring. It is through this rapport built between the participants, Implementing Partners and LEAD India that a sense of common purpose develops that goes a long way in creating a cohesive network. It is this structure that allows LEAD India to effectively cover the vast project region.
